The former Governor of Rivers State and Transportation Minister, Senator Rotimi Amaechi, has lost his beloved mother, Mrs. Mary Amaechi.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced the death of Mrs. Amaechi on Thursday night via a statement signed by the opposition party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.
“The African Democratic Congress extends its deepest condolences to our Vice Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, CON, on the passing of his beloved mother, Mrs. Mary Amaechi. We also extend our sympathies to the entire Amaechi family as they mourn the loss of a matriarch whose love, guidance and strength helped shape generations,” Abdullahi wrote.
“A mother’s influence reaches far beyond the walls of her home. It is reflected in the values she imparts, the sacrifices she makes, and the lives she leaves better than she found them. While the pain of such a loss cannot be measured, we hope the Amaechi family will find comfort in a life well lived, in cherished memories, and in the prayers of millions of Nigerians who mourn with them today.
“On behalf of our National Chairman, Senator David Mark, GCON, the National Working Committee, and members of our great Party across the country, we pray that Almighty God grants Mrs. Mary Amaechi eternal rest, and grants her family strength, comfort and peace in the days ahead.”
The CRA Advocacy Network also wrote on X: “FAREWELL MAMA. With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi. We pray that God grants H.E. Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, CON, and the entire Amaechi family the strength to bear this profound loss. May Mama’s gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
The ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, also paid tribute to the late Mrs. Amaechi in a post he shared on his official X account.
“I join the family, friends, and associates of His Excellency Rotimi Amaechi, our vice-presidential candidate in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in mourning the passing of his beloved mother, Mrs Mary Amaechi,” Atiku wrote.
“I am told that she lived an exemplary Christian life marked by devotion to God, faithful worship, and selfless service to her community.
“She was a mother to all who crossed her path, and Nigeria remains deeply indebted to her memory for raising one of our outstanding statesmen and great patriots, His Excellency Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation.”
The former Vice President also prayed that God grants her beautiful soul eternal rest and comforts the family, friends, and loved ones she has left behind.
