…Cites creation of hearing-impaired church, hospital, parishes

The Anglican Diocese of Akure has described the 13-year episcopacy of the former Bishop of the Diocese and Archbishop of the Ondo Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Simeon Borokini, who retired a few days ago, as an era of unprecedented growth and development.

 

The commendation was contained in a communique issued at the conclusion of the 2nd Session of the 15th Synod of the Diocese, held at the Cathedral Church of St. David’s, Ijomu, Akure, Ondo State.

 

While tagging the tenure of Borokini as a “glorious phase” in the history of the diocese, the Synod stated that he had served without any blemish and appreciated him for standing tall as the leader of the diocese.

 

With the diocese restating its confidence in his leadership, it noted that his stewardship had positioned the Church for continuous growth and development, disclosing that under his watch, the diocese had grown in leaps and bounds.

 

According to the synod, his administration gave enormous attention to evangelism and missionary expansion, which it emphasized translated into the establishment of a church for the hearing impaired, the creation of new parishes, and the establishment of additional archdeaconries.

 

The communiqué read in parts, “The Synod, while bidding the Archbishop and Bishop farewell, wishes to register its gratitude to God for the grace He has granted the Bishop to pilot the affairs of the Diocese in the last thirteen (13) years of his episcopacy. It is indeed an end of a glorious phase or era in the history of our dear diocese.

 

“The establishment of the Church for the hearing impaired, the establishment of new parishes, additional archdeaconries, and ultimately, the creation of the Missionary Diocese of Idanre out of Akure Diocese.

 

“Synod notes that the achievements of His grace in the Diocese are indeed visible for everyone to see. Several developmental projects were witnessed under his episcopacy, which include setting up a pure water factory, the establishment of a diocesan hospital, construction of guesthouse facilities, a modern bishop’s office complex, and some other laudable projects targeted at positioning the diocese for continuous growth and development.”
