The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has commended Kano State Government’s investment in human capital development especially in education sector, describing it as a significant boost towards brighter future generations.

Besides, the Minister revealed the priority attention being devoted to enhance teaching and learning under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has opened opportunities to return more pupils back to school.

The Minister made the remark during official presentation of letters of appointment to 8,588 newly recruited teachers and facilitators on Tuesday in Kano.

He asserted that with huge commitment to bequeath quality education for general yet inborn as attested with 32 per cent budget allocation on education, Kano is leading with enviable track record.

The Minister assured the state government the readiness of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu to support Governor Yusuf to fully entrench the Federal government Renewed Hope Agenda in Kano.

“We have a performing governor. It’s just not shocking. You have a governor, Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf who has dedicated 32% of Kano State projects to education.

“Today, the governor is giving appointment letters to almost 9,000 teachers and facilitators. A total of 16,000 teachers in three years. We thank Governor Yusuf for what is doing for us and for giving Federal government happiness.

” Besides, In just three years, the governor has reconstructed and put solar lights in over 150 metropolitan roads in Kano City. Thank you, Your Excellency. This is a show of love to your people. This is supporting the President Tinubu. This is building Nigeria. Kano is one of the biggest states in the country.” Dr. Alausa said.

The Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Aisha Garba who also attested to the fiscal transformation in education sector, stressed that recruitment of additional teachers will reduced wide gap in teacher and pupil ratio in Kano.

Dr. Aisha reminded that the achievement in deployment of more teachers to public schools comes at a critical time when the world is facing a shortage of teachers especially in developing countries.

She posited that UNESCO estimated that more than 44 million teachers are needed to bridge the gap in terms of teacher shortage, arguing for more investment for bright and qualify education.

The UBEC boss hinted that Governor Yusuf has taken a bold commitment which is in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose directive has been very clear that “no child should be left behind”.

Speaking at the event, Governor Yusuf said the recruitment was part of commitment to give hope to millions of children whose dreams depend on the quality of education.

The governor explained that the recruitment would strengthen the foundation and future prosperity of education in the state, ensuring that every child is given the opportunity to learn, dream, and fulfill their God-given potential.

He noted that for a government that prioritised educational quality, it needs qualified, competent, and committed teachers to succeed.

Governor Yusuf revealed that between May 2023 and June 2026, his administration recruited over 13,600 qualified teachers into basic and secondary schools to raise educational standards.

He added that within the period, thousands of schools were supplied with instructional materials, teachers received training, pupils were provided with free uniforms, and 15 boarding schools were reopened.
