The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding digital learning and strengthening technology-driven education, describing innovation as critical to preparing students for the demands of the 21st-century economy.

The assurance was given during the unveiling of the TETFund-sponsored Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON) at the Federal College of Education (FCE), Ekiadolor, where the state government commended the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and TETFund for driving digital transformation across tertiary institutions.

Representing Governor Monday Okpebholo, the state’s representative said the deployment of the E-DON 98-inch QR Interactive Smart Board and its embedded 3D Animation Educational Software marked a significant milestone in improving teaching and learning through indigenous technology.

According to the representative, the initiative demonstrates what can be achieved when home-grown innovation is integrated into education, adding that students deserve access to world-class digital learning tools that will equip them with the knowledge, creativity and competencies required to compete globally.

The government noted that artificial intelligence and digital technology have become central to modern education, stressing that institutions that embrace innovation are better positioned to produce graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.

“It is not merely about introducing new equipment; it is about creating a more engaging, interactive and inclusive learning environment for both educators and students,” the representative said.

The Edo State Government said Governor Okpebholo’s administration, through its SHINE Agenda, remains committed to promoting digital learning, indigenous innovation and student development across tertiary institutions in the state.

It added that the government would continue to pursue strategic partnerships and collaborations aimed at expanding access to modern educational infrastructure and digital learning tools across both tertiary and basic education institutions.

The state government also congratulated the management of the Federal College of Education, Ekiadolor, the National Coordinator of the E-DON Initiative, Dr. Idonuagbe Akogun, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education, Dr. Angela Ajala, TETFund and other stakeholders for making the initiative a reality.

It described the project as an investment in the future of Edo students and urged stakeholders to continue working together to build an education system capable of preparing young Nigerians for future opportunities and global competitiveness.[2:01 PM]336882.jpg
