The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a notorious one-chance robbery syndicate operating in the state, in what it described as another breakthrough in its crackdown on the crime.

The suspects, identified as Uche Samuel, 45, from Omunato Local Government Area of Imo State, and Nkechi Amadi, 42, from Nekede, also in Imo State, were apprehended by operatives acting on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command.

The statement said the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime during interrogation, adding that efforts were ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate.

However the Police Commissioner said the Command had declared “an on-slot against one-chance operators and all violent criminals,” warning that “there will be no hiding place and no room for one-chance syndicates or other criminal elements in Rivers State.”

CP Adepoju said the Command would continue to deploy intelligence-driven policing and proactive operations to identify, arrest, and prosecute offenders, while assuring residents that police remained committed to protecting law-abiding citizens.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to volunteer credible and timely information to help police prevent crime and arrest criminals.
