The Ogun State Police Command has arrest of two suspected “one-chance” robbers terrorising Obantoko and its environs, and recovered of a stolen iPhone 12 Pro mobile phone belonging to a victim.
Their arrest follows a distress call received from members of the public reporting a robbery incident involving a female victim and her two sisters.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday
Babaseyi said that upon the report the Operatives of Obantoko Division acted swiftly on 28/05/2026 at about 1715hrs and arrested the suspects
He explained that the victims were said to have boarded a Nissan Micra taxi painted in Ogun State colour from the Somorin area en route NNPC Kuto, where they intended to connect another vehicle to Lagos after attending a wedding anniversary in the area.
The Police PRO explained further that at the OLG Somorin axis, the occupants of the vehicle allegedly diverted from the agreed destination, became unruly, and forcefully ejected the passengers.
He said that immediately after disembarking, the complainant discovered that her iPhone 12 Pro had been stolen.
“Upon receiving the distress alert, operatives of Obantoko Division, in collaboration with members of the public, swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested two suspects identified as Odunuga Kehinde and Olajide Rasak. The timely intervention of the police prevented a possible mob action by agitated members of the public.”
“The stolen iPhone 12 Pro was recovered from the suspects, while the alleged operational vehicle reportedly fled the scene. Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime during interrogation. Photographs of the suspects were taken for record purposes, and the recovered exhibit was released to the owner on bond” Babaseyi added.
