The Accord Party gubernatorial candidate in Taraba state, Professor Jerome Nyameh, has outlined the qualities he would prioritize in appointing cabinet members if elected governor.

In a statement, Nyameh said his administration would be guided by the principles of integrity, competence, political experience, and loyalty in selecting members of the State Executive Council.

According to him, honesty would be a key requirement for anyone serving in his government, stressing that transparent and accountable leadership depends on individuals who provide truthful advice, discourage corruption, and promote public trust. He noted that leaders surrounded by sycophants risk making poor decisions due to a lack of honest feedback.

The governorship candidate also emphasized the importance of appointing technocrats and professionals from outside politics. He said experts in fields such as engineering, law, economics, public administration, healthcare, technology, security, business, academia, and civil society would bring the knowledge and technical expertise needed for effective governance and sound policymaking.

Nyameh further stated that his administration would include politically experienced individuals who understand governance, negotiation, public relations, and policy implementation. He said such experience is essential for navigating political challenges and ensuring that government policies are effectively executed.

On loyalty, the Accord Party candidate explained that he would appoint individuals committed to the vision, values, and objectives of his administration. He described true loyalty as commitment to a shared purpose rather than blind obedience, adding that loyal appointees should also uphold honesty and accountability.

“Successful governance requires a balanced combination of integrity, expertise, political strategy, and loyalty, rather than sycophancy”, Nyameh concluded.
