The Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, on Tuesday advanced reasons why he did not receive the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO when the later came to Ede township, alongside his campaign team.

He also implored President Bola Tinubu, not to allegedly allow or introduce rigging of the exercise, exuding confidence that the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is also the flag bearer of Accord, will win the election.

Oba Lawal spoke during the inauguration of dualised 9 kilometres Akoda-Baptist-Oke Gada road project at Oja Timi, in Ede township.

The monarch, who addressed the people in Yoruba language stated that he was part of a delegation to the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, when AMBO Campaign Council came to Ede, recalling that the notice for the visit came around 8:00 p.m, which was a day before the visit.

According to Oba Lawal, “We are using this opportunity to appeal to President Bola Tinubu not to rig the governorship election; he should leave us alone and allow each of us to vote where we so desire. They know that by the grace of God, the Accord Party will be victorious.

“I was at a function, where the Imam of Offa is doing a marriage for his daughter, when AMBO came with his entourage, they pointed me to him, and he came to greet me. But I was surprised when his followers joined the musician to sing that they should put out Ede’s light and put on that of Ikire, when I got home, I spoke to God to end their reign and God did that immediately, “the traditional ruler stated.

While dismissing speculation that he avoided Oyebamiji’s campaign in his domain, Oba Lawal explained: They are carrying a campaign of calumny that when they came to Ede, I ran from the palace, I have been expecting the day they would come and greet me so that I can ask them that I was in Offa when they say they should put off Ede’s light, what are they expecting from me, it is a curse!

Speaking during the inauguration of the road project, Adeleke maintained that the development was part of his administration’s agenda of infrastructure renewal across all zones of Osun.

He averred that “what we are doing in Osogbo, we are doing in Ila, in Iwo, Ile Ife, Ilesha and now in Ede. It is noteworthy to inform the gathering of today that our engineers have delivered quality work in line with the best standard. I commend the Ministry of Works and the contractor for a job well done.
