Stablecoin Summit 2.0 to focus on Nigeria’s evolving digital payments

Nathaniel Luz will be at Stablecoin summit 2.0

Banks, payment service providers, regulators and digital asset firms are expected to converge in Lagos on Thursday for the second edition of the Nigeria Stablecoin Summit (NSS 2.0), where stakeholders will examine the future of digital payments and stablecoin adoption in Nigeria.

Organised by the Africa Stablecoin Network (ASN), the summit, themed “New Vistas”, will hold at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island.

The event follows the Nigerian government’s recent issuance of a Presidential Executive Order on Virtual Assets Coordination, which seeks to improve coordination among agencies responsible for regulating Nigeria’s virtual asset ecosystem. It also builds on the implementation of the Investment and Securities Act (ISA) 2025, which established a legal framework for digital assets and virtual asset service providers.

According to the organisers, discussions will focus on developing interoperable payment infrastructure, institutional custody standards, fiat on-and-off ramps and ways to reduce the cost of cross-border remittances.

Speaking ahead of the summit, President of the Africa Stablecoin Network and Convener of NSS 2.0, Nathaniel Luz, said the event is intended to shift industry conversations from policy development to practical implementation.

“Last year, we opened the door. This year, we walk through it.

“The institutions coming to NSS 2.0 are not coming to speculate. They are coming to build the payment systems that will carry African trade for the next decade.”

The summit will feature keynote addresses and panel discussions involving representatives from the banking sector, fintech companies, academia and regulatory institutions.

Scheduled speakers include Dr Segun Aina, President of the Africa Fintech Network; Sola Adeyinka, Chief Executive Officer of Vale Holdings; Dr Stephen Ayodotun Ibidunni of James Hope University; Gbenga Omosuyi, Head of Global Business Development at Sphere Lab; Tosin Nathaniel-Luz of Nexply Compliance; Sogo Dowole, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Circle Funds; and Uyoyo Ogedegbe, Chief Executive Officer of cNGN.

The programme will also include a national essay competition for secondary school and undergraduate students exploring the future of digital finance.
