Taraba Muslim council commends FG, Kefas over Army 10 Division

The Taraba State Muslim Council has welcomed the establishment of the Nigerian Army 10 Division in Taraba state, describing it as a major step toward strengthening the nation’s security architecture and addressing the persistent security challenges confronting the North-East and other parts of the country.

Chairman of the council, Ustaz Bashir Hamman Adama, stated this on Wednesday while reacting to the creation of the new military formation, saying its presence would significantly improve security operations, particularly in border communities vulnerable to criminal activities.

According to him, the establishment of the division comes at a critical time when communities in Taraba and neighbouring Adamawa State continue to face security threats ranging from kidnappings and armed attacks to other forms of violent crimes.

“The establishment of the Nigerian Army 10 Division is a welcome development that will undoubtedly strengthen the nation’s security architecture and enhance ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity, especially in border communities,” he said.

Ustaz Bashir commended the Federal Government and Governor Agbu Kefas for facilitating the establishment of the Army division in Taraba State, noting that the initiative demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

He expressed confidence that the military formation would improve rapid response to security threats, enhance intelligence gathering and strengthen the operational capacity of security agencies in the region.

The Muslim cleric, however, urged the relevant authorities not to relent in addressing the security and welfare needs of citizens, stressing that the protection of lives and property remains the foremost responsibility of every government.

He condemned the continued killing of innocent people across parts of the country, describing the actions of criminal elements as cruel, inhumane and a gross violation of the sanctity of human life.

According to him, the activities of kidnappers, terrorists, armed robbers and other criminal groups have continued to inflict pain on families and communities through the destruction of lives and property, displacement of residents and disruption of economic and social activities.

He said the establishment of the Army division should be complemented with adequate logistics, manpower and operational support to enable personnel effectively carry out their constitutional responsibilities.

Ustaz Bashir also appealed to residents of Taraba and Adamawa states to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would assist in preventing crime and apprehending criminal elements.

He particularly urged communities to support the newly established Nigerian Army 10 Division, noting that security is a collective responsibility that requires the active participation of government, security agencies and the public.

The council chairman further reaffirmed the commitment of the Taraba State Muslim Council to promoting peace, unity and stability through continuous prayers and advocacy for peaceful coexistence among the people.

He expressed optimism that sustained collaboration among government, security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, as well as citizens, would help restore lasting peace and create a safer environment for socio-economic development in Taraba State, Adamawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
