A former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, has described the ongoing governorship election in the state as peaceful, orderly and rancour-free.

Alabi, popularly known as BOA, spoke shortly after casting his vote at Ward 06, Unit 07, in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of the state, at about 8:40 a.m. on Saturday.

He commended the presence of security operatives at the polling unit, saying their deployment had helped to ensure a peaceful voting process and prevent rancour among voters.

“The process is peaceful, orderly and rancour-free. The security operatives are available, ensuring that things go on well and preventing rancour,” Alabi said.

However, the former deputy governor raised concerns over the adequacy of voting equipment at the polling unit, noting that more than 1,000 registered voters were expected to cast their ballots with only one Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) device available.

“There are over 1,000 voters here with one BVAS, which is not enough,” he said.

Alabi served as Deputy Governor of Osun State from 2018 to 2022 under the administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and hails from Ikire in Irewole Local Government Area of the state.
