Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have dismantled a suspected baby factory at Abaren Village, Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children and arresting six suspects in connection with alleged human trafficking and illegal adoption.

The operation, conducted by operatives of the Mowe Divisional Police Station on Monday, August 24, 2026, followed sustained intelligence on the activities of a suspected trafficking syndicate operating from Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, via Gbarinmole, a suburb of Mowe.

According to a statement by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, the operatives stormed the facility at about 8:00 a.m. and rescued two pregnant women identified as Ilesanmi Foluke, 23, who was seven months pregnant, and Ejekwa Melody, 20, who was eight months pregnant.

Four children, comprising two boys and two girls, were also recovered from the premises.
The police said six suspects arrested during the operation were Florence Glory Ogbona, 58; Magdalene Julius, 63; Chidike Egwuonwu, 40; Onyechu Chidike, 35; Stephen Ogbona, 39; and a nurse, Oseni Kusamotu Idaya.

The command said preliminary investigations indicated that human trafficking and illegal adoption had allegedly been taking place at the facility for some time.

In a follow-up operation, police operatives reportedly traced the activities of the syndicate to a hospital within the Mowe axis, where another victim, Blessing Bright Effiong, 26, had delivered a baby boy on August 20.

The police said Effiong was receiving medical treatment when operatives arrived at the hospital, but the whereabouts of her newborn could not be established.

The attending nurse was subsequently arrested to assist investigators in locating the missing infant.

The case is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The police said the investigation would focus on determining the full extent of the alleged syndicate’s activities, locating the missing newborn and prosecuting suspects found culpable.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the Mowe Division operatives for what he described as their prompt response and operational efficiency.

Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating human trafficking, child, trading, and other violent crimes across the state.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide the police with timely and credible information on suspicious activities, assuring them that the command would sustain intelligence-led policing to protect residents.
