Nigeria Police Force

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has said it will deploy forensic investigation model into the unfortunate shooting incidence in  Dada Estate area of Osogbo, Osun State that  resulted in the unnecessary  loss of  lives.

The Police Force equally says it  acknowledges the ongoing public interest in the incidence  and the recent statement by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on the subject matter.

Police Force Public Relations Officer , DCP Okon Placid stated that while the police  recognizes the statutory duties of the NCS in anti-smuggling operations, the sanctity of human life remains the highest priority of the state.

He said the Inspector General of Police has noted the NCS’s call for a harmonized investigation and to that end, the NPF will work with the customs Service in investigations currently led by the Osun State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and will  conduct  the “highest level of forensic diligence.

“The suspects, Kolawole Suuti and Danjuma Samuel, remain in police custody to facilitate a transparent inquiry. The recovered exhibits—including a Beretta pistol (Breech No. 125024) and 9mm ballistic evidence—are undergoing specialized analysis to synchronize the facts with the operational Rules of Engagement (ROE).

“The NPF and NCS maintain a robust, professional relationship. This incident is being treated as a matter of individual professional accountability.

“We urge the public to refrain from sensationalizing the event as a conflict between agencies. Both the NPF and NCS are united in the pursuit of justice for the deceased.

The Force extends its deepest condolences to the family of the victim and remains committed to a conclusion that upholds the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
