Troops neutralise 21 B’Haram, ISWAP terrorists in Adamawa

Troops of the Northeast Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have neutralised 21 Boko Haram and an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Hong Local Government Area of the state.

The military said on Thursday, August 27, 2026, Operation HADIN KAI spokesman Captain Mohammed Goni said troops struck a terrorist camp near Kopre Mountain.

The military said the operations were carried out by the Office of the National Security Adviser Tactical Team and troops of the 226 Battalion.

Acting Media Information Officer of OPHK, Capt. Mohammed Goni, disclosed that the troops entered the mountainous area, following intelligence reports about the presence of suspected terrorists.

Goni added that the ground troops operation took place in the early hours of Wednesday, August 27, 2026 by engaging the fighters in two separate

“More than 21 suspected terrorists were killed, while others escaped with gunshot wound,” said Goni in the statement..

However, Goni’s claims could not be independently verified, and the military did not disclose whether the troops suffered any casualties.duting the two-hour operation in the hilly areas of Hong.

He added that the ground troops subsequently dismantled the terrorists camp and destroyed their facilities and supplies allegedly used to support the group’s operations in Adamawa state.

Other items destroyed in the camp include motorcycles, bicycles and jerry cans containing petrol at the Hong Army base.

The troops also recovered AK-47 rifles, magazines and large quantities of 7.62mm ammunition during the operations.

The offensive forms part of continuing efforts to locate people abducted from Mussa community and Lassa school on May 16, 2026 in Borno state.

The military said victims from Mussa were abducted in May, while schoolchildren from Lassa were abducted in June 2026.

Hong Local Government Area shares difficult terrain and forested that have previously provided cover for the armed groups.

The military operations in the North-East have increasingly combined combat offensives with intelligence-led searches for abducted civilians.

Goni said Operation HADIN KAI would continue its operations aimed at locating the abducted persons and disrupting terrorist camps and supply networks.
