The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, is expected to launch the Adire Hub at the Ake Palace of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Okukenu IV, on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

The initiative, established by the Global Adire Egba Development Company Limited, is aimed at empowering and upscaling Adire producers and preparing them to participate effectively in global and African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) markets.

The event is also expected to welcome Egba indigenes from the diaspora, particularly those from the United States and Canada.

The Adire Hub represents the first phase of a proposed Adire Village, designed to educate and improve the capacity of Adire producers while exposing them to opportunities in international trade.

The visionary of the programme, Prof. Olajumoke Familoni, said the hub would showcase the diverse products derived from Adire fabrics and highlight the value chain associated with the traditional textile industry.

According to the Professor of Entrepreneurship and Management, the strategic preparation of merchants at the hub would equip them with the skills and knowledge required to meet international market standards and take advantage of opportunities created by AfCFTA.

She added that the initiative was designed to strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global textile market by promoting locally produced Adire and developing the capacity of producers across the value chain.

The professor  said the proposed Adire Village would further support the growth of the textile sector and create opportunities for Adire producers to expand their businesses beyond the domestic market.
