The governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has warned against attempts to factionalise the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, stressing that such moves could distract members from its political objectives.
 
Aiyedatiwa gave the admonition yesterday at the APC Elders Council meeting held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Akure, the state capital, where he also unveiled the party’s mobilisation strategy for the 2027 general elections.
 
According to the governor, APC has only one structure in the state and must operate as one indivisible political family, directing the immediate activation of the Elders Council across all 18 local council areas.
 
He maintained that those attempting to create another faction of the Elders Council remain members of the APC and should be brought back into the fold, stressing that such divisive moves must not be allowed to undermine the party’s political objectives.
 
The governor charged all party structures to work together ahead of the polls, urging members to support every APC candidate contesting elections at both federal and state levels, emphasising that the development of the state, the success of his administration and the party’s electoral victory are interwoven.
 
“APC is one. There are no two APCs in Ondo State.  We don’t want to leave anybody out. Even those who are trying to create another faction, we are talking to them; APC must remain one,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa said the development of the state rests on his shoulders as the elected governor but stressed that he cannot accomplish it alone, adding: “I need the support of everyone: the elders, the women, the youth, everyone.”
