NSCDC, NDLEA, Seadogs commit to strengthening security, community devt

The founder of Iru Ekun Security Network, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, yesterday said that the onslaught against criminal elements in the South-West would continue to ensure the region’s safety.

He said that the recent reduction in cases of kidnapping, banditry and other vicious crimes in Yorubaland followed the tactical support of Iru Ekun Security Network by the police, Nigerian Army, the Department of State Service (DSS) and other security agencies in the country.

According to a statement from Igboho’s media office, the Yoruba nation agitator gave the assurance during the launch of Iru Ekun in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Igboho described security as a collective responsibility of all, regardless of political, ethnic and religious divides.

Meanwhile, Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and prominent traditional rulers in the state have rallied support for Iru Ekun Security Network.

Deji of Akure, Oba Adetoyinbo Aladelusi, and the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin, respectively, while receiving Igboho in their palaces, promised to back the operations of Iru Ekun, and urged their subjects to cooperate with all security agencies to improve safety and peace in their communities.

RELATEDLY, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command; the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun Command, and the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity), Ash Montana Deck, Abeokuta, have expressed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in the areas of security, humanitarian services, and community development across the state.

This came during a separate courtesy visit yesterday by the newly elected leadership of Ash Ash Montana Deck, led by the Capoon, Eremonsele Emmanuel Okoghe, to the offices of the NSCDC and NDLEA in Abeokuta, the state capital.

NSCDC’s State Commandant, Remilekun Ekundayo, while welcoming the delegation at the Command’s headquarters, Owu-Dekudu, Abeokuta, said that the collaboration would strengthen mutual understanding and institutional relations between the two organisations.

Also, Commander of the Ogun State Command of the NDLEA, Tijjani Rabe, expressed appreciation to members of the Deck for their continued belief in and support for the agency’s activities.

Rabe, while acknowledging the Deck’s important role in supporting the NDLEA’s operations and programmes, commended its members for their cooperation and confidence in the agency’s efforts to combat drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the state.

Responding, Okoghe said the delegation was at the Command to formally introduce the newly elected executive committee members and reaffirm the longstanding relationship between the Seadogs and the NSCDC.
