Representatives of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Lagos Directorate for Muslim Affairs paid a courtesy visit to Daru Ishad, launching a grassroots voter mobilization drive aimed at young Muslims across the state.‎

Led by Director Waheed Tella, operating under the patronage of Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, the delegation met with institution head Sheikh Ibrahim Saheed Olawunmi, faculty members and students to rally support for the administration’s policy agenda and urge political participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing the assembly, Tella framed voter registration as a civic duty, urging students who have reached the voting age of 18 to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). Pointing to the demographic weight of the state’s Muslim population, Tella argued that democratic engagement remains the most effective vehicle for community representation.

“We have the numbers,” Tella told the gathering. “Let us use our franchise to elect leaders that will serve us better. Your PVC is your power.”

The outreach forms part of a broader strategy by the pro-government group to secure institutional backing from faith-based organizations for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Deputy Governor Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat.

In response, Sheikh Olawunmi welcomed the delegation and echoed the call for electoral engagement, advising students on the necessity of participating in the democratic process to secure governance that reflects their interests. The Sheikh subsequently led prayers for national stability and local prosperity, assuring the visiting delegation of the institution’s support for upcoming civic mobilization efforts.

The delegation also included Deputy Director M.O. Sanni, Secretary Aloba Idayah, Media Officer Tajudeen Uzamot and Supervision Lead AbdulWasiu.
