Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested five teenagers suspected of being involved in a series of shop burglaries across Ado-Odo/Ota Local Council of the state.

The suspects are: Lateef kalid, 15; kareem Jamal; 16; Sofiu Alabi, 14; Taofik Abioro,16; and Ogundele Monday 15.

They were arrested in separate incidents for September 2, 2026 and September and September 4, 2026.

A spokesperson of the Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.

Babaseyi said that in the first incident that occurred on September 2, some concerned community members, at about 0330hrs reported that a watchman informed about suspicious movements inside a market stall.

He said that upon the receipt of the report, the operatives immediately mobilized to the scene where they arrested Kalid and Jamal inside the shop and recovered stolen foodstuffs and other items.

The Police Spokesperson noted that interrogation of the duo led to the arrest of Alabi, who confessed to providing the key used to access the shop.

“All three suspects have been charged to court.” he stressed.

In the second incident that occurred on September 4, Babaseyi said that operatives of Social Orientation and Safety Corps( So-Safe) arrested Abioro and Monday and handed them over to the police.

He said that during preliminary interrogation, both suspects confessed to participating in multiple shop burglaries across while subsequent searches at their premises yielded additional stolen items.

“The case has been referred for further investigation, while tracking efforts continue for an outstanding accomplice.” Babaseyi added.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers of the Ado-Odo Division for their swift action and lauded the So-Safe Corps for their efforts in nabbing the suspects.

Ojajuni urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to exercise firm supervision over young persons to prevent youth involvement in crime.

He further advised business owners to bolster basic security around their premises and promptly report suspicious activities to the authorities.
