The Social Democratic Party (SDP) will on Tuesday unveil its presidential policy blueprint, titled Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity: Governance & Accelerated Development – Blueprint of a New Nigeria, 2027–2031, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The document, authored by the party’s presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, is scheduled for public presentation at 2 p.m. at the Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.

According to the party, the event will provide Nigerians and other stakeholders with an insight into its vision, policies and programmes for the country between 2027 and 2031.

The blueprint places poverty and insecurity at the centre of the SDP’s proposed governance agenda, while outlining strategies aimed at accelerating economic and national development.

The presentation is expected to attract political stakeholders, professionals, members of the diplomatic community, civil society organisations, the media and other Nigerians interested in the country’s political and economic direction.

“The document is more than a campaign manifesto, its focus reflects the party’s ambition to provide a comprehensive policy alternative to address the economic and security challenges confronting Nigerians.”

Adebayo, who has consistently emphasised poverty reduction, economic opportunity, security and effective governance in his political engagements, is expected to explain the policy framework and how his administration would translate its proposals into concrete programmes if elected president in 2027.

The event will be hosted by the National Chairman of the SDP, Professor Sadiq Abubakar Gombe.

The unveiling comes amid growing political debates over poverty, unemployment, insecurity, inflation and declining purchasing power, with competing policy proposals expected to feature prominently in the build-up to the 2027 elections.

With the title Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity, the SDP is seeking to position its presidential campaign around addressing what it considers the root causes of the country’s economic and security challenges.

The party’s invitation carries the message: “SDP… Progress! A New Nigeria is Possible.”

The public presentation is expected to give Nigerians an opportunity to scrutinise the policies and programmes the party intends to implement in its bid to build what it describes as “a new Nigeria.”
