National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has announced that he has embarked on a two-week vacation outside Nigeria, describing the break as an opportunity to rest and prepare for the political challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda disclosed this in a statement shared on his personal X handle, explaining that the decision followed months of extensive engagements, consultations, travels and other activities since he assumed leadership of the ruling party.

The APC chairman said the period away would allow him to recharge and reflect on the responsibilities ahead as the party works towards strengthening its position ahead of the next general elections.

Since becoming national chairman, Yilwatda has been involved in engagements with governors, members of the National Assembly, state party leaders, elected officials and other stakeholders as part of efforts to consolidate the party’s structures nationwide.

The party has also completed its national convention and conducted various primary elections as it prepares for the 2027 electoral cycle.

Yilwatda said his vacation should not be interpreted as a withdrawal from party affairs, noting that the National Working Committee (NWC) would continue to manage the party’s activities in accordance with its constitution and established procedures.

He is also expected to use the period to further develop plans for an upcoming NWC retreat, where the party’s leadership will review its progress, consider emerging challenges and map out strategies for the months ahead.

The retreat is expected to focus on improving coordination within the party’s leadership and strengthening the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections.

Yilwatda is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of the two-week vacation and resume his official engagements as the APC moves into another critical phase of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
