Katsina State Government has reiterated its commitment to fast-tracking the state’s development, even as it says it has budgeted the sum of N678 billion as capital expenditure for the 2027 fiscal year.

The state Governor, Dr Dikko Radda, made this known while presenting the 2027 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly on Tuesday evening.

Radda said the budget estimate, tagged “Building Your Future IV,” has a total size of N829 billion, with about 77 percent of it to be allocated for capital expenditure.

He said out of the N638 billion, the sum of N325.4 billion, or 51.02 percent, would go to five priority sectors.

He identified these sectors as including Basic and Higher Education, N89 billion (13.14 percent); Works and Housing, N72 billion (11.22 percent); as well as Agriculture and Livestock, N66 billion (10.33 percent).

The rest are Health, N54 billion (8.41 percent), and Rural Development, N51 billion (8 percent).

He said the remaining capital allocation of N312.5 billion, or 48.98 percent, has been earmarked to support other essential sectors such as security and governance.

Radda also identified sectoral allocations in the estimate, including Administration, N199 billion or 23 percent of the total budget; Economic Sector, N303.1 billion (36.59 percent); Law and Justice Sector, N9.1 billion (1.11 percent); Social Sector, N318 billion (38.3 percent).

He said the sum of N191 billion, or 23.02 percent of the total budget, has been earmarked as recurrent expenditure, with Personnel Cost to gulp N80 billion and other overhead costs to get N111 billion.

The governor said the 2027 budget has a decrease of N69.2 billion, or 7.71 percent, when compared to that of 2026, which stood at more than N990 billion.

He said the state is projecting recurrent revenue of N489 billion in federal allocation, as well as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of about N96 billion for the coming fiscal year.

The governor, who commended the lawmakers for maintaining a cordial relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms of government, called on them to work towards speedy passage of the appropriation bill.

Radda said doing so would ensure quick completion of existing projects, as well as initiating new ones for the socio-economic transformation of the state and its people.

Responding, Speaker of the House, Hon. Nasiru Yahaya, assured that the lawmakers would immediately sit and deliberate on the budget estimate to ensure its quick passage into law.
