The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has selected nine state FA chairmen and 18 other representatives to meet with top officials of the world football governing body (FIFA), and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) during their visit to Nigeria on September 14.

Among other things, the visit is to enable both CAF and FIFA to vet the list of people picked by the National Sports Commission (NSC), the NFF and other stakeholders for the proposed normalisation committee to reform the nation’s football following the resignation of former president Ibrahim Gusau, his entire board and the Secretary General Mohammed Sanusi.

An NFF letter, dated September 9, 2026, made available to The Guardian, yesterday, stated that only nine out of the 37 FA chairmen will be eligible to attend the meeting slated for Abuja Continental Hotel.

The letter signed by NFF Acting Secretary, Emmanuel Ikpeme reads: “The delegates of FIFA and CAF are to meet with the following delegates on September 14, in Abuja: State FA chairmen (nine representatives), coaches association (the president and two other members, one each from North and South); referees association (the president and two other members, one each from North and South); the players union (the president and two other members, one each from North and South); NPFL (the COO and two club officials, one each from North and South); NWFL (the COO and two club officials, one each from North and South); NNL (the COO and two club officials, one each from North and South) and NLO (The COO and two club officials, one each from North and South).

Ikpeme warned that the names of all selected representatives must reach the NFF secretariat within 48 hours, adding that each representative is mandated to present an acceptable means of identification such as international passport, drivers license or voters card.

Ikpeme added: “Please note, this letter supercedes the earlier letter dated September 8, 2026.
