Residents of Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Friday protested incessant kidnappings and attacks in the area.
The protesters expressed concern over the worsening security situation, calling on the Federal and Sokoto State governments to take urgent measures to protect lives and property.
They demanded the deployment of more security personnel and operational assets to vulnerable communities, as well as intensified patrols, surveillance and intelligence-led operations to tackle the attacks.
The protesters also called for stronger collaboration among security agencies to track down the criminals responsible for the attacks and restore peace to the affected communities.
The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the protest.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, said the police were aware of the situation and assured residents that security operatives were “on top of the situation.”
He added that the police were monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to maintain security and protect lives and property in the affected area.
