As the demand for technological proficiency continues to redefine the modern workforce, the OKLA Computer Academy marked a significant milestone on Friday with the graduation of its third cohort under the Free ICT and Computer Training Programme.

The Certificate and Gifts Award Presentation Ceremony, held at Mende, Maryland, brought together community leaders, political figures, parents and young beneficiaries under the banner, “Celebrating Skills | Recognising Excellence | Inspiring Greater Possibilities.”

The initiative, founded by  Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon, was established to address the growing digital divide by offering tuition-free, practical training to youth within the constituency and surrounding communities.

Throughout the intensive program, participants gained hands-on experience across critical technical disciplines, ranging from foundational applications such as Microsoft Office and Graphic Design to technical fields including Data Analytics, Web Development, Database Management, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.

Delivering the welcome address, Okanlawon commended the resilience and dedication demonstrated by the students, noting that sustainable youth empowerment relies heavily on providing early access to relevant digital infrastructure and education.

“Today’s certificate is not the end of your journey; it is a foundation for greater opportunities and achievements,” Okanlawon said, urging the set to deploy their acquired expertise constructively. “I encourage you to continue learning, developing your skills, embracing innovation, and using technology responsibly to create value and solve real-world problems.”

Beyond the conferment of certificates, outstanding students were presented with recognition awards and gifts to celebrate technical merit and active participation throughout the coursework.

Speakers at the gathering underscored the necessity of sustained public-private and community-driven intervention programs to ensure young citizens remain competitive in an increasingly automated global economy.

As the academy concluded its third cycle under its core mandate, “Empowering Young Minds For A Brighter Tomorrow,” organizers reiterated their commitment to expanding access to digital education for subsequent cohorts.
