The 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has mourned the death of former Gongola State Governor, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, describing him as a statesman whose decades of service left a lasting mark on Nigeria.

Obi, in a condolence message via his X-Handle said Tukur’s contribution went beyond politics, noting his years in public service and extensive involvement in African commerce.

The former Anambra State governor described the late elder statesman as a distinguished Nigerian whose career spanned governance, business and national development.
He extended his condolences to the Tukur family, the Adamawa State Government and the people of the state, urging them to find strength in the late politician’s contributions to the country.

Obi prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive Tukur’s shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and give his loved ones the strength to bear the loss.

Tukur, who served as Governor of the old Gongola State, was also a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political and business circles, with a career that spanned several decades.
