Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Action Peoples Party (APP) has expressed confidence in its ability to emerge victorious, following the entry of three political figures from the South-East and South-South into the party.

APP chieftain and candidate for Ideato North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, welcomed the serving members of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Boma Goodhead and Rt. Hon. Alozie Munachim Ikechi, as well as former federal lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima, into the party.

The three politicians are candidates of the APP for the 2027 National Assembly elections.

Goodhead represents Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency of Rivers State, while Ikechi represents Obingwa/Ugwunagbo/Osisioma Federal Constituency of Abia State. Chima is a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Oguta/Ohaji-Egbema/Oru West Federal Constituency of Imo State.

Ugochinyere, in a statement, described the new entrants as “great democratic fighters”, saying their experience and commitment to their constituents would strengthen the APP ahead of the elections.

He said, “I warmly welcome Rt. Hon. Boma Goodhead, Rt. Hon. Alozie Munachim Ikechi and Rt. Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima to the Big Elephant Party. APP is excited to have great democratic fighters like you in our midst.

“Your experience, courage and commitment to your constituents will add tremendous value to our collective effort to build a stronger political platform ahead of 2027.”

Ugochinyere said the entry of the three politicians further demonstrated the growing appeal of the APP as a platform for independent-minded politicians committed to putting the interests of the people first.

He said the party was building a new political direction centred on the aspirations, welfare and future of Nigerians.

“The APP is a political home for independent-minded, new-generation politicians who are determined to move away from the old ways of doing politics and embrace a new direction dominated by the people’s interests.

“Our politics must be about the people, their aspirations, their welfare and their future. That is the politics we are building in the APP,” he said.

Ugochinyere expressed confidence that the new members would deploy their legislative and political experience to strengthen the party at the grassroots and expand its electoral fortunes across the country.

He also wished the three candidates success in the 2027 National Assembly elections, expressing confidence in the party’s prospects of emerging victorious.

He assured them that the APP would continue to provide a platform for credible and independent-minded politicians committed to democratic progress and effective representation.
