…As Police recover another corpse in Ife
There was tension and mild drama at the premises of Osun State University Teaching Hospital (UNIOSUNTH), Osogbo, on Monday when enraged loyalists of slain Adeleke’s aide, Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as ‘Emir Ajagungbade’, allegedly attacked staff of the hospital while retrieving his corpse.
This was just as the remains of Emir Ajagungbade was interred at his private residence located at Agunbelewo area of Osogbo.
However, some members of his family, friends, supporters and gang members had earlier besieged the premises close to the morgue to grieve while others were expecting that he would resurrect.
However, they became unruly when a staff member of the hospital simply identified as Abiodun, attempted to record them with his phone near the administrative block of the hospital.
He was attacked and his phone was smashed and burnt by the Emir’s gang members in protest of the gruesome killing of their leader, who was attacked around Mayfair motor park in Ile-Ife on Sunday.
Similarly, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of UNIOSUNTH, Mr Farinloye was equally attacked when he made efforts to rescue Abiodun from the mob.
A source within the hospital who pleaded anonymity explained that “police operatives later intervened because they also assaulted one of the visitors to the hospital.
“It was the police that rescued the two staff of UNIOSUNTH and one other. They were hurling stones at the police after they rescued their victims and were leaving the premises of the hospital.”
More personnel of the Nigerian Police were later deployed to the two entrances of the hospital as they stationed five security patrol vans with a van of DSS patrolling the premises.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun State Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, on Monday disclosed that the Police had recovered another corpse at Mayfair motor park, Ile-Ife, where Emir Ajagungbade was attacked killed on Monday.
