•Urge Tinubu to caution Adeola, cohorts over misinformation
• Say no one has authority to speak on parties’ behalf without consent

Two opposition parties in Ogun State, the Because Of Our Tomorrow (BOOT) and the Young Progressives Party (YPP), yesterday, denied withdrawing the court case challenging the candidacy and state-of-origin status of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, ahead of the 2027 election.

Chairman of BOOT, Abiodun Akerele, and Chairman of YPP, Solomon Adeyemi, however, denied consenting to or signing any document indicating their withdrawal, or the withdrawal of any other parties involved in the lawsuit against Adeola, the serving senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District.

They made their positions known in a joint statement issued at the end of a media briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat, Iwe-Irohin, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The chairmen called on President Bola Tinubu to caution Adeola and his associates against using political influence, intimidation, harassment, or misinformation to undermine or frustrate the ongoing court case, insisting that they were not consulted about the purported withdrawal of the case in court.

The duo questioned the legitimacy of the purported withdrawal of the case, stressing that they had not authorised anyone to withdraw, compromise, or discontinue the legal action without their consent, noting that it was unacceptable for anyone to portray the matter publicly as though all the plaintiffs had jointly agreed to abandon the case.

They, therefore, called on security agencies to embark on thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged attempt to withdraw or compromise the proceedings, as well as alleged intimidation, threats and surveillance, stressing that they would continue to pursue every legitimate avenue available to them under the Nigerian law.

The parties, however, rejected any attempt to have the case dropped due to the influence of Adeola or any highly placed individuals, urging them to refrain from any action that could threaten, intimidate, harass, or compromise the safety of anyone connected with the proceedings.

The two chairmen, who insisted that they had not authorised anyone to speak on their behalf, also urged members of the public, the media, political parties and all relevant stakeholders not to rely on narratives designed to create the impression that every legal challenge against Adeola’s candidacy and state of origin had been voluntarily and unanimously withdrawn by all those involved.
