The campaign organisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has alleged a plot by some individuals linked to the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) and leaders of the Park Management System (PMS) to destroy and deface Alli’s campaign billboards and posters across Ibadan.
The APM, however, has denied the allegation, describing it as false and urging the campaign organisation to desist from what it described as inflammatory claims.

In a statement, the Director of Media and Publicity of the Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation, Bisi Oladele, said the organisation received what it described as credible intelligence about an alleged plan to vandalise Alli’s campaign materials.
Oladele said the alleged plan was discussed at a meeting held in the Gbagi area of Ibadan, with Egbeda, Ibadan North East, Lagelu and Akinyele local government areas identified as primary targets.

He also called on security agencies to investigate the alleged plot and ensure the protection of lives, property and campaign materials. The allegations were also reported by local media outlets on September 18.
The campaign organisation urged the Oyo State Government and security agencies to take steps to prevent any possible act of vandalism or breakdown of law and order.

Reacting on Sunday, the Oyo State APM Presidential/Governorship Apex Campaign Council, in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Committee, denied involvement in any plan to attack or destroy Alli’s campaign materials.
The party said it had no interest in vandalising opponents’ billboards or posters, maintaining that its campaign was focused on peaceful political participation and adherence to democratic norms.

“APM has built its reputation on peaceful mobilisation, disciplined engagement, and respect for democratic norms. We do not destroy opponents’ materials, we do not sponsor thuggery, and we do not engage in violence,” the statement said.

The APM also urged the Alli campaign organisation to refrain from allegations that could heighten political tension in the state, insisting that political parties should maintain a peaceful environment ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party said it remained committed to engaging voters peacefully and respecting all candidates and their supporters.

The exchange comes amid increasing political activity in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with political parties and their candidates intensifying campaigns and public mobilisation across the state.
