…says ‘I am only responding to people’s call for true representation in agege’

The race for the Agege Federal Constituency took a dramatic turn on Friday as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Hon. Seyi Kazeem Sarumi, officially launched his campaign bid amidst massive grassroots euphoria.

Thousands of enthusiastic Agege residents flooded the streets, drumming, dancing, and chanting slogans like “Imole”
(Light) and “Seyi mukezo, o ti wole” (Seyi is the one we know, he is already victorious), signaling a fierce demand for political change in the constituency.

The high-octane event reached its peak when senior ADC party officials officially presented the party flag to Hon. Sarumi, certifying his mandate to lead the opposition’s charge in the upcoming 2027 House of Representatives election.

Addressing the energized crowd, a grateful Sarumi declared that his candidacy is a direct rescue mission driven by the popular will of the people.

“I have the backing of the majority of Agege constituents who are tired of years of lame, self-serving representation,” Sarumi stated.

“They have chosen me to lead this rescue mission, to put an end to politics of self-satisfaction, and to finally deliver a focused, people-oriented leadership. Agege will be great again.”

In an unexpected show of political maturity, Sarumi extended olive branches to his opponents while remaining resolute about a sweep at the polls:

“We are not against anyone. Those contesting on the other side are our brothers. We are only privileged to have been chosen by the masses to lead the rescue agenda and declare that enough is enough. We shall hand them a clear defeat, and the people will be happy again.”

The upcoming battle for the Agege federal seat is set to be one of the most highly anticipated contests in Lagos State. Sarumi will be slugging it out directly with the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, the current heavyweight Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

With Sarumi riding a powerful wave of third-party momentum and grassroots discontent, the ADC has firmly positioned itself to disrupt the established political order in Agege, come 2027.
