eTranzact reaffirms commitment to Nigeria’s digital identity ecosystem

NIGERIA’S fintech company, eTranzact International Plc, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the country’s digital identity ecosystem and support infrastructure necessary for building a more secure and inclusive digital economy.

The company made the commitment at the 2026 International Identity Day celebration, held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.

The event brought together senior government officials, technology and identity solution providers, private-sector leaders and other stakeholders, to discuss the growing role of digital identity in Nigeria’s economic development and digital transformation.

Held under the theme, ‘Nigeria’s Digital Public Ecosystem Powering Africa’s Digital Economy’, the event highlighted the importance of trusted digital identity and digital public infrastructure in improving access to services, enhancing security and accelerating Nigeria’s transition towards a technology-driven economy.

As a strategic partner of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), eTranzact has continued to support initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s digital public infrastructure and expanding access to secure technology-enabled services.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of eTranzact, Mr Niyi Toluwalope, in remarks, conveyed by the Executive Director, Government Relations and Strategic Initiatives, Abubakar Achimugu, reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting the country’s digital transformation.

He said: “Through its participation, eTranzact once again underscored its dedication to strategic public-sector partnerships and innovative technology solutions that drive digital transformation and support a more inclusive digital economy.

According to the company, digital identity is increasingly critical to expanding digital economy, providing a foundation for secure financial transactions, government services, social interventions and other technology-enabled activities.

“A reliable identity ecosystem can also promote financial inclusion by enabling more Nigerians to access banking, payments, credit and other essential services, while helping institutions improve verification, compliance and protection against identity-related fraud.

“eTranzact believes sustained collaboration among government institutions, technology companies and financial-service providers will be essential to building an interoperable, secure and inclusive digital public infrastructure.

As the country deepens its digital transformation, the company held that such partnerships are expected to strengthen service delivery and provide a foundation for scalable solutions that can contribute to the growth of Africa’s wider digital economy.
