Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo has assumed office as the 10th Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU).

Badejo assumed duty on Monday with LASU welcoming the Chief Executive and Academic Head of the University in a post on its official X account.

The post welcomed her leadership in advancing teaching, research, innovation, and community service while building on prior achievements at the university.

LASU said her assumption of office marks a significant milestone in the history of the university and signals the commencement of a new administration, building on the achievements of previous administrations while charting new pathways for growth, innovation and excellence.

“As Professor BADEJO takes up the mantle of leadership, the University community looks forward to her experience, vision and commitment in advancing LASU’s core mandates of teaching, research, innovation and community service,” the statement read.

“The University Management, Senate, staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders warmly welcome the 10th Substantive Vice-Chancellor and look forward to a new chapter of purposeful leadership and continued institutional advancement.

“Welcome to LASU as the 10th Substantive Vice-Chancellor ma. We wish you a fulfilling tenure marked by purposeful leadership, meaningful impact and remarkable accomplishments. We are LASU, We are Great!.”

Professor Badejo’s assumption of office follows the end of Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello’s tenure as the 9th VC of the university.
