President Bola Tinubu has described the death of former Governor of Kogi State, Ibrahim Idris, as a “painful loss” to his family, the state and the entire country.

In a statement yesterday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said Idris’s death was a significant loss, noting that the former governor devoted a substantial part of his life to public service and the development of the state.

Also, a former governorship candidate in the state in 2023, Murtala Ajaka, said Idris would be remembered for his years of public service and contributions to the political and developmental history of the state.

Ajaka, in a condolence message on the death of the former governor, described Idris as an important figure in the state’s political history whose passing marked the end of a significant chapter in the state.

According to Tinubu, “Idris was a committed public servant whose years in office formed an important chapter in the political and developmental history of Kogi State. At this difficult moment, we must remember and honour his contributions to the growth of his state and our nation.

He also acknowledged Idris’s contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development and his years of engagement in public affairs, and prayed that God would grant the deceased’s family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
