Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is set to introduce what it describes as Nigeria’s first smartphone with a 10,000mAh battery as it prepares to unveil the REDMI Note 17 Series in the country.

The new lineup comprises three models targeted at different segments of the market, with battery capacities ranging from 7,700mAh to 10,000mAh.

The flagship REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G features a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which Xiaomi says can provide up to four days of use on a single charge.

The device also supports 100W HyperCharge and 27W reverse charging and features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP66/IP68/IP69 protection.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G comes with an 8,340mAh battery, 67W turbo charging, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor, Dolby Atmos dual speakers and a 50MP optical image stabilisation (OIS) camera.

The third model, REDMI Note 17, has a 7,700mAh battery, 45W charging, Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 processor and a 6.99-inch AMOLED display.

Xiaomi said battery capacity was a major feature of the series, designed to reduce charging interruptions for consumers who rely on smartphones for streaming, gaming, navigation and mobile work.

The company said the devices reflect its “Built for Years” philosophy, combining larger batteries, faster charging and enhanced durability.

“We believe Nigerian consumers will embrace battery endurance as a key factor in smartphone choice,” the company said.
The REDMI Note 17 Series is scheduled for unveiling in Nigeria on September 30.

The launch is expected to deepen competition in the mid-range smartphone market, with Xiaomi positioning battery capacity as a key differentiator alongside camera and processor specifications.
