….Rallies support for President Tinubu’s reelection bid

Honourable Engr. Esosa Iyawe, member representing Oredo Federal Constituency of Edo State in the 10th National Assembly, has unveiled his Tricycle Empowerment Programme, donating over 100 tricycles, popularly known as kekes, to youths and constituents, as part of efforts to improve livelihoods and promote grassroots development.

The empowerment event attracted his constituents and supporters, who celebrated the initiative with chants of: “Iyawe, keep taking us to where the dividend of democracy is.” The programme further reinforced Iyawe’s commitment to creating economic opportunities for young people across Oredo Federal Constituency.

Speaking at the event that attracted thousands of crowds in Benin City, Esosa Iyawe said: “We are donating over 100 tricycles to the youths, support the governor because the project is for Asiwaju (Bola Ahmed Tinubu) and all the other candidates in the party (All Progressives Congress (APC). We want to urge those we have empowered before and those we are empowering today, use it to empower your family and community in Oredo. Before the campaign kicks off, we will definitely come again and preach the gospel. Let us do the needful and vote for APC all the way.”

He also disclosed plans to commission 1,000 street lights under his “Operation Light Up Oredo” initiative, while promising to deepen collaboration with the council chairman and other stakeholders to expand development projects across the constituency.These tricycles will be used to the good of our people and they will use it to put food on their table, to better their lives, in Jesus’ name.” Following the ceremony, some beneficiaries were seen driving away the donated automobiles after taking delivery of their keys.”

Speaking after the commissioning, Hon. Iyawe said the empowerment programme was driven by his commitment to the people of Oredo, while outlining several interventions already undertaken.

“My love for the people of Oredo Federal Constituency is what keeps me to keep doing this empowerment. So far, I’ve distributed over 100 buses in Oredo. I’ve distributed sewing machines, make up kits, we did motorcycle distribution recently,” he disclosed.

“This is just the phase of Kekes and Tricycles. My target is to reach 1,000 households in Oredo, With the help of the President Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Monday Ohpebholo, I want to appreciate the fact that they have given us the privilege to reach the grassroots by laying it down from top to bottom.”

Beyond his constituency empowerment initiatives, Hon. Esosa Iyawe has been active on the floor of the House of Representatives, where he has moved motions focused on national interest and development.

In 2024, his motion urging the Federal Government to enforce 2017 Executive Order 003 and sensitise Nigerians on the benefits of patronising local textile manufacturers was adopted. Also in 2024, he moved another motion urging the Federal Government to convert forfeited and abandoned properties in the country and overseas into office spaces for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) occupying rented facilities to save billions of naira.

“The speaker has already spoken well about the things I’ve done in the past. I will still be commissioning 1,000 street lights.

It is a project and we call that project ‘Operation Light Up Oredo’. While I work with the council chairman, we will definitely cover a lot of ground. We will commission those street lights that have been installed recently.

The locations of the street light are . Ewa road, gsm village, Irhirhi and siluko road”.

Continuing, Hon Iyawe said,, “The transformers that have been installed recently, we will still commission them. I will still call him (speaker) to come and commission at least one,.We will do our best to support the party,” Hon Iyawe promised.

The empowerment programme also took place against the backdrop of Edo State Governor, His Excellency Governor Monday Okpebholo’s promise to mobilise 2.5 million votes in the state for President Bola Tinubu. ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

A top politician at the event praised Esosa Iyawe’s interventions, describing him as a leader who had emerged at a critical moment to support young people and represent their interests.

“A man that God has sent in a time like this to redeem the youths; to redeem our people; to lead us, to represent us at the House of Representatives. I must thank you, sir. I’m thanking you because i know, what you are doing right now, there were people who had the same opportunity to do so but refused to do it,” he said.

He added: “You are a good man, sir, you have a good heart. For you to still remember us and remember the youths. What I’m seeing here is first of its kind. People have gone to the house of representatives in this state, people have been in power, government. I also want to say here that your tenure is also good because you came at a time Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in power.” he said.

Commissioning the tricycles, he said: “On behalf of the leadership of the APC, starting from the President of the Federal Government of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on behalf of the governor, our very dear son, Honourable Iyawe and every other person here, we dedicate these tricycles in the name of God the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
