A Collission involving a flatbed truck and two commercial buses beneath the Second Rainbow Bridge along the Mile 2 corridor in Lagos disrupted traffic yesterday, although no casualties were recorded.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a statement by its Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq.
According to Taofiq, the crash involved a flatbed Mack truck, a T4 commercial bus and a mini commercial bus popularly known as Korope. It occurred on the inward-bound section of the corridor.
He said the collision temporarily obstructed the main carriageway, causing a traffic backlog and slowing vehicular movement along the busy route.
“Fortunately, no casualties were recorded at the time of reporting,” Taofiq said, adding that LASTMA operatives promptly moved to manage the situation, ease congestion and prevent secondary collisions.
The agency also contacted the police and requested a tow truck to assist in assessing and removing the affected vehicles from the carriageway.
As recovery and traffic management operations continued, LASTMA personnel worked to restore normal traffic flow and ensure the safety of motorists and other road users.
The authority urged motorists approaching the Mile 2 corridor, particularly those travelling inward, to exercise patience, maintain lane discipline and avoid reckless manoeuvres.
It advised drivers to comply with instructions from traffic management officials.
LASTMA reiterated its commitment to responding promptly to road crashes and other traffic incidents to protect lives and property and ensure safer movement across Lagos State.
It also urged motorists to report road crashes, vehicle breakdowns and other obstructions through its toll-free short code, 3367, accessible on MTN, Glo and T2 networks.
