LG Electronics has showcased its latest technologies at South Korea’s National Day celebration in Abuja, highlighting the role of innovation and private-sector partnerships in strengthening economic and cultural relations between Nigeria and South Korea.
The event, hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea under the theme, “One Heaven. One Earth. One Humanity,” brought together government officials, diplomats, business leaders and development partners to celebrate bilateral relations and explore opportunities for closer cooperation.
Guests at the celebration experienced a range of LG products, including premium organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, soundbars, xboom audio systems, artificial intelligence-powered home appliances and smart-living technologies.
The exhibition demonstrated how technological innovations could improve household convenience, connectivity and energy efficiency, while providing participants with firsthand experience of the company’s products.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of LG Electronics, Hyoung Sub Ji, said technology delivered its greatest value when it improved people’s lives and addressed everyday challenges.
“Technology is most meaningful when it creates positive experiences for people. What made this event special was seeing guests engage openly, ask questions and discover how innovation can address everyday challenges,” he said.
Ji said the company remained committed to providing solutions that improve living standards and strengthen connections between Nigeria and South Korea.
He added that LG’s participation reflected its belief that innovation should be accessible and capable of delivering practical benefits to consumers.
In his keynote address, South Korea’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Jeong Yo-an, emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between both countries, identifying innovation, human capital development and strategic partnerships as key drivers of sustainable growth.
He noted that companies such as LG Electronics demonstrated the value of bilateral cooperation by translating technological innovation into practical solutions, including energy-efficient products and smart home appliances.
Representing Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the ministry’s Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Babagana Wakil, called for stronger cooperation in industrial manufacturing, technology transfer, agriculture, education and maritime development.
He said collaboration across these sectors could unlock new opportunities for economic growth and strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
The celebration also featured Korean cuisine, traditional performances and Taekwondo demonstrations, highlighting the role of cultural exchange in building stronger international relationships.
The growing popularity of Korean culture in Nigeria, alongside the increasing international reach of Nigerian creative industries, has created additional opportunities for people-to-people engagement and mutual understanding.
For LG Electronics, participation in the event provided an opportunity to showcase its technology while reinforcing its commitment to innovation and cooperation between both countries.
South Korea’s National Foundation Day, also known as Gaecheonjeol, commemorates the traditional founding of the Korean nation and reflects the ideal of contributing to the welfare of humanity.
The Abuja celebration brought together representatives of government, business and the diplomatic community, highlighting opportunities for stronger partnerships and shared progress between Nigeria and South Korea.
