The Niger State Police Command has rescued six farmers abducted from their farms in Mahangi village, near Pandogari, Rafi Local Council of the state.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped by armed hoodlums on October 28, 2026, at about noon and taken to Hanawanka Forest.
The police said the farmers were rescued unhurt on October 29 during a joint security operation around Pandogari.
In a statement issued in Minna, the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the victims were taken to Kagara Police Division for briefing and medical attention before being reunited with their families.

In a related development, the command said its tactical team, working alongside local vigilantes, had recovered two AK-47 rifles and two empty magazines during a security operation in Borgu Local Council.
Abiodun said the weapons were recovered on October 30 at about 10 a.m. during a clearance operation around Kaima and Gwando villages, along the Niger-Kwara border.

According to him, security operatives and vigilantes engaged suspected bandits in a gun battle during the operation, neutralising some of them, while others fled into the forest.
