Former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has asked his successor, Hope Uzodimma, and his aides to desist from further insulting judges over a recent judgment that voided the incumbent governor’s claim to being the Imo West Senatorial District candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections.
Instead, Okorocha advised Uzodimma and his aides to pursue their appeals up to the Supreme Court rather than denigrating the judiciary over a lost case.
The ex-governor spoke yesterday on the premises of the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he said he attended to sign some documents at the court registry in relation to Uzodimma’s appeal against Justice Obiora Ekwuatu’s October 29 judgment, which upheld Okorocha as the APC candidate.
Okorocha challenged Uzodimma to fault his claims in public rather than attacking judges and the judiciary, and to allow the legal process to run its course, insisting that disagreement with a court decision should be addressed through the appellate process.
Defending the judgment, he said documents certified by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) contained inconsistencies and irregularities relating to the conduct of the APC primary
He further alleged that the result sheets were written and signed by a single person across several wards and local council areas, raising questions about the process by which Uzodimma emerged as the party’s candidate.
Among other things, Okorocha disputed the claim that Uzodimma emerged through consensus, saying the documents before the court did not support that position
