The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Group, Sijibomi Ogundele, has earned a place among Nigeria’s Top 100 Trailblazers, following his recognition by Daily Times Nigeria as part of activities marking the newspaper’s 100th anniversary.

The honour celebrates Ogundele’s contributions to entrepreneurship and the real estate sector, placing him among a distinguished list of Nigerians whose influence and achievements have contributed to the country’s business landscape and national development.
The recognition forms part of Daily Times’ centenary celebration, commemorating a century of journalism and its longstanding role in documenting Nigeria’s political, economic and social evolution since its establishment in 1926.

Sujimoto’s story is rooted in an audacious vision to redefine high-end architecture across Africa. From landmark achievements such as the Medici in Ikoyi to iconic developments like GiulianoBySujimoto in Banana Island—home to renowned figures such as music icon Davido—and the groundbreaking LucreziaBySujimoto, the company has consistently set new benchmarks in luxury property development.

However, the journey has not been without significant adversity. Navigating severe macroeconomic headwinds, inflationary pressures, rising construction costs, and policy hurdles, Sujimoto faced intense financial strain. Despite these immense hurdles and moments of deep pressure, Ogundele maintained a strong sense of accountability to clients and investors.

Choosing transparency over retreat, the company executed a rigorous balance-sheet restructuring and repaid over ₦40 billion in debts to creditors and private lenders while ensuring landmark developments, including Lucrezia, were completed and successfully handed over to homeowners.

Speaking on the recognition, Ogundele expressed appreciation to the management of Daily Times, describing the honour as particularly meaningful because it came from an institution with such a significant place in Nigeria’s history.

He noted that being acknowledged by a newspaper that has chronicled the achievements of generations of influential Nigerians was both humbling and motivating.

He also commended media entrepreneur and Daily Times Patron, Fidelis Anosike, for the vision behind the recognition, which celebrates individuals making notable contributions across different sectors.
For Sijibomi Ogundele, the recognition carries even greater significance as it places him alongside some of Nigeria’s most accomplished business leaders and nation builders, including Aliko Dangote.

He described the inclusion as an inspiration to pursue bigger ambitions and remain committed to creating lasting value.
Rather than regarding the honour as the culmination of his entrepreneurial journey, Ogundele sees it as a call to greater responsibility, innovation and impact.

He emphasised that recognition should inspire individuals to do more, challenge existing limitations and create opportunities that extend beyond personal achievements.

Since establishing Sujimoto in 2013, Ogundele has pursued an ambition to transform Nigeria’s luxury real estate landscape through high-end property development and a focus on distinctive architectural concepts. The company has since become associated with premium residential developments in some of the country’s most sought-after locations.

His journey into entrepreneurship has also been shaped by a background characterised by ambition, resilience and an early interest in business.

From his experiences growing up in Agege to his exposure to international business and eventual return to Nigeria, Ogundele has continued to build his identity around the pursuit of excellence and the possibilities within the Nigerian real estate market.
According to Sujimoto’s corporate profile, Ogundele brings more than 12 years of experience in construction and real estate, with over N45 billion in real estate transactions recorded throughout his career.

The company identifies diligence, integrity and excellence as some of the principles guiding its operations.
Over the years, his business philosophy has centred on innovation, value creation and challenging conventional standards within the property development industry. This approach has informed the company’s luxury development portfolio, including the LucreziaBySujimoto project in Banana Island, which has featured in previous Daily Times reports on the entrepreneur and his work.

While the Top 100 Trailblazers recognition adds to Ogundele’s growing list of professional honours, his response suggests that he considers it a motivation to pursue even greater achievements. He reiterated his commitment to pushing boundaries, building with greater purpose and inspiring a culture where ambitious ideas can translate into meaningful results.

He described the moment as an opportunity to challenge himself and his team to “stretch possibility further, build with greater consequence, dream BIGGER” and continue demonstrating the power of what he calls the “Spirit of Possibility.”
Reaffirming his confidence in the journey ahead, Ogundele concluded with his familiar personal mantra: “1+1 is still 11. It is already too late to fail.”
His recognition by Daily Times at its centenary celebration represents another notable milestone in his entrepreneurial journey, highlighting a career driven by ambition, resilience and an enduring determination to redefine possibilities within Nigeria’s luxury real estate sector.

Emerging stronger from recent financial trials, Sujimoto is now channeling that renewed momentum into its most ambitious vision yet: the unveiling of Isabella de’ Medici, a magnificent 49-story luxury hospitality tower in Lagos designed to further elevate African architecture on the global stage.
