Lagos-based firm, Remed Health Care, has opened its fourth walk-in clinic to expand access to affordable primary healthcare, diagnostic and specialist services.

The facility, according to the Medical Director, Dr Rehane Egbochie, is designed to provide family-oriented healthcare in a comfortable environment, integrating laboratory, diagnostic, general medical and specialist services.

Speaking at the launch, Egbochie said the clinic had dental and eye care units, X-ray and ultrasound facilities, 12-hour observation, emergency response and ambulance services. It also has referral partnerships with major hospitals for cases requiring specialised treatment.

She explained that the walk-in model allows patients to access basic medical services without hospital admission.

Egbochie added that the company provides home healthcare through doctors and nurses who visit patients, while visiting consultants, including paediatricians and obstetricians and gynaecologists, offer specialised services.

She said locating the clinics within shopping malls was deliberate, as it made healthcare more accessible and less intimidating.

“We want people to be comfortable. Healthcare is serious, but it shouldn’t be stressful. You come to the mall to shop, do your groceries, and at the same time, get a dental check, eye check and general health screening,” she said.

According to her, the business model emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, when movement restrictions and difficulties accessing healthcare prompted the organisation to begin with home care services.

Egbochie also stressed the importance of preventive healthcare, noting that many Nigerians only seek medical attention when they become ill, often resulting in late diagnosis of non-communicable diseases.

She urged residents to prioritise routine medical examinations, recommending annual health and eye checks, dental examinations twice a year and regular blood tests to detect potential health problems early.

On affordability, Egbochie said the clinic was designed to serve different income groups without compromising quality.

The Baale of Gedegede land in Eti-Osa Local Council, Ayodeji Thomas, commended the company for complementing government efforts to improve healthcare delivery.

He said the facility would reduce the burden on residents who previously travelled to distant hospitals, including those in Agboyi and Marina, to access basic medical services and diagnostic tests.

Thomas urged more private investors to support healthcare development, stressing that improving access to medical services should not be left to government alone.

He pledged the community’s cooperation with the company to improve healthcare delivery and promote development in the area.
