Buhari set to assent to PWD bill, says Izunaso
Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Kpakpando Foundation for Persons with Disabilities (KFPD), Senator Osita Izunaso, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will soon sign the Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) Bill into law.
Izunaso stated this yesterday when he met with PWDs from across the country in Abuja.
He said that the plight of the PWDs would be addressed by the time a legal framework is put in place.
“The country stands to benefit immensely from the content of that law. So, we have to keep pressing. Anyway, the President is not somebody you have to press much for something that has to do with people who are vulnerable because there are very important aspect of that bill that need to be put in place almost immediately.
“The bill is seeking to establish a national commission for persons with disabilities. Once there is a commission, people would be represented on behalf of the six geo-political zones. And when there is a commission, there would be budgetary provision in all our national budgets,” he said.
