AACI to train professionals in fight against corruption
The American Anti-Corruption Institute in Nigeria (AACI) is set to train professionals in the country on new ways to tackle the menace in public institutions and agencies of the government called corruption.
The body, worried by the level of corruption in Nigeria and the inability of the government to win the war against it, also admitted that it is evident that corruption is an international phenomenon crossing national borders.
The Strategic Partner of the body in Nigeria, Dr. Fagbayide A. Oluwole, said: “It is no longer an option to do nothing regarding fraud and corruption. However, fighting corruption is multifaceted and should always be carried out in a disciplined approach. The AACI believes that qualified management is well positioned to effectively fight fraud and corruption.
“It is apparent that corruption is a bacterial and epidemic that terminates economic growth of Nations if not nid in the bud. All citizenry must Imbibe the spirit of anti-corruption for the enablement of government to provide dividend of democracy.”
Canvassing more intelligent ways to tackle corruption, the anti-graft body also noted that because tone will always be set at the top, the AACI believes that decision makers should always have anti-fraud intelligence.
“We also believe that management is the weakest cycle that usually jeopardises any anti-corruption effort in any entity. Despite the fact that there is too much literature written about the role of management in fighting fraud and corruption, no organization or school provides specific disciplined education and approaches to fight fraud and corruption that engages middle and upper management in the anti-corruption fight.
“We provide two premier anti-corruption certification programs: CACM targeting decision makers and those charged with governance and the Organizations Anti-Corruption Certification program targeting entities.
“As prevention is always better than cure, The AACI emphasizes corruption prevention and supports organizations in quantifying their corruption exposure.
“Because tone is always set at the top, The AACI provides the board members with the knowledge and skills to help them meet their duties: fiduciary, care and loyalty. Post-workshop online tests follow all The AACI learning programs.”
The body with the goal of developing, empowering the middle and upper management through a certification process to fight fraud and corruption consciously, proactively, efficiently, and effectively, added that it is committed to fill the gap and provide assistance to Nigerians and its members with an anti-corruption certification programme and further study those conditions that lead to fraud and corruption and the most effective means to battle fraud and corruption.
