Academic staff union lauds Sanwo-Olu, Wahab over new varsity

The Academic Staff Union of the newly established Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, has lauded Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Tokunbo Philip Wahab, for the smooth transmutation of the former Lagos State Polytechnic into a degree-awarding university of science and technology.
     
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Inasa-Thomas, on behalf of the Chairman, Akinrinlola Ibitoye, the union applauded the Governor for his visionary and transformational leadership style that influenced the birth of the new university, which is in tune with global practice.
    
Akinrinlola said: “This laudable act represents a pragmatic attempt at further delivering on the THEMES agenda of Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration

     
“We believe that it is an indication of your passion for excellence in the delivery of tertiary education in Lagos State.
       
“It is also a significant step towards ensuring that Lagos State, through the university, would now produce a crop of high-quality human resources who have been prepared and equipped for the 21st-century digital economy.”
      
Akinrinlola also commended the pivotal role played by the special adviser to the governor on education, saying, “your relentless efforts in the pursuit of qualitative tertiary education for the indigenes and residents Lagos State demonstrated towards making LASUSTECH become a reality. Your unique input in the entire process has indeed met the expectations of many Lagosians who earnestly yearned for quality science and technology-based education which is the trend worldwide.”
    
The union pledged its unalloyed support for Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration towards ensuring that the new university became a first-class citadel of learning through rigorous, groundbreaking academic research and innovative technological inventions.
