Al-makura boycotts council poll, appoints interim committee
Nasarawa State Governor Tanko Almakura has appointed interim management committee chairmen for the state’s 11 local councils.
This is coming barely two months after the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) announced its readiness to conduct council poll.
He sent the list of committee members to the State House of Assembly for confirmation on Monday.
Speaker of the house, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi announced this in Lafia after the majority leader of the house, Tanko Tunga (APC-Awe North) read the governor’s letter to the house.
The names of the IMC chairmen are Kwanta Yakubu (Akwanga), Hudu Tafida (Awe), Rabo Sani (Doma), James Thomas (Karu), Jamila Sarki (Kokona)
Other are: Yahuza Mairafi (Lafia), Ayuba Wandai (Nasarawa), Danlami Idris (Nassarawa Eggon), Sa’adatu Yahaya (Obi), Nuhu Dauda (Toto) and Murtala Lamus (Wamba).
Balarabe-Abdullahi said: “We have received a letter from Al-Makura through the majority leader and they have been screened.
Earlier, Tunga while presenting the governor letter on the floor of the House, said that their appointment was based on their track records.
