Belemaoil employs 1000 youths, empowers 300 women
An indigenous oil operator in the Niger Delta region, Belemaoil Producing Limited, has employed 1,000 youths in Kula community in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, and other operational communities.
The firm also hinted that 50 graduates of various technical skills from Kula and other communities have also been engaged. The Manager, External Relations, Belemaoil Producing Limited, Samuel Abel -Jumbo, disclosed this recently in Kula community during a special honour of the President of the firm, Jack-Rich Tein Jr.
Jumbo also disclosed that the firm’s trade and economic empowerment programme for women commenced in March this year where the firm started empowering about 300 women every quarter with the sum of N100,000 per quarter, for enhancement of their trade and business.
Similarly, he added that the firm has constructed 30 flats for the Nigerian Army in Bayelsa State.The project, which is a three-storey building is located on the 16 Brigade Headquarters, Camp Burutai, Yenagoa.The structure was inaugurated by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Burutai, barely a year after he performed the ground breaking ceremony in the same location.
Burutai at the inauguration and handover of the 30 Units known as ‘Corporal Below Quarters’ commended Belemaoil for providing the accommodation for soldiers and their families.Represented by the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command at the Army Headquarters Abuja, Major General A.A Salihu, he noted that the Army is appreciative of the scholarship given by Belemaoil to the children of deceased soldiers and those who are maimed in active service in the defence of the country.
He said: “On behalf of the Brigade and the Nigerian Army, I sincerely thank Belemaoil for building 30-flats Corporal Below Quarters for soldiers and their families. Furthermore, we wish to register our appreciation to Belemaoil for scholarships given to children and wards of deceased officers and those permanently injured through fighting in various parts of our country”.
The army helps to protect the general area of OML-55 operated by Belemaoil in Rivers State.The Director, Production and Engineering of Belemaoil Producing Ltd. Engr. Mufaa Welsh who represented the Founder/President of the company Engr. Jack-Rich Tein Jr. said the gesture was in appreciation of efforts of the military in securing its oil facilities and providing security along the waterways within its corridors of operation.
The Bayelsa State Governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral John Jonah (Rtd) said the 30 flats accommodation provided by the indigenous oil company Belemaoil would enhance the quality of life of the soldiers and their families.
