‘Why students should cultivate entrepreneurial mind-set’
To reduce the burden of unemployment, Chairman, Unilorin Alumni, Lagos Chapter, Debo Atunwa, has harped on the need for students to have entrepreneurial mind-sets.
He said that institutions should do more for students in terms of technology-based training, youth empowerment, and entrepreneurial programmes.
Atunwa added that is important to prepare undergraduates for the outside world, hence the need to instil the habit of competition and seriousness.
“As an association, we plan to continue our bursary awards initiated in the Year 2010, for the best students in each department across all faculties to support the students,” he said at a parley in Lagos.
Atunwa noted that the alumni would raise N10million for students at its annual event tagged, ‘Life after graduation,’ adding: “It is the belief of the Alumni that participating in such a project would further enhance the standard our University is known for.”
The chairman noted that going by the trend in the global village, the Alumni has opted to play a more prominent role in the development of the institution, and also encourage other alumni to work towards greatness and harnessing goodwill for the betterment of institutions and the society at large.
