The Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON) has appointed Prof. Ayo Hammed as Director of the Counselling Institute of Nigeria, established to provide continuing professional development for counsellors and allied professionals.

The association said the appointment was in recognition of Hammed’s professional competence, experience and leadership within the counselling profession.

‎According to CASSON, the appointment is a part-time position expected to support the institute’s launch and development in line with the association’s policies and professional objectives.

The association said Hammed would provide strategic leadership for the institute, oversee its operations, and coordinate programmes to strengthen professional training and development within the counselling sector.

CASSON added that the director would work with heads of training and programmes, administration and finance, and information and communication technology to ensure effective delivery of the institute’s objectives.

According to the association, the role includes coordinating departmental activities and ensuring quality assurance in training programmes.

It said the director would also promote partnerships, stakeholder engagement and compliance with professional standards.
