CIPM partners Imo, commits to human capital development

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing human capital development across the nation.

This institute restated the commitment during a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Dr Chinyere Ekomaru, at the Government House, Owerri, where she received the CIPM delegation on behalf of the Governor, Hope Uzodimma.

Ekomaru commended the institute for its unwavering role in driving professionalism and capacity building within Nigeria’s workforce. She lauded Governor Uzodimma’s administration for prioritising human capital development as a cornerstone of governance in Imo State, noting that “developing people with skills makes them self-reliant.”

“Governor Hope Uzodimma believes in empowering people. His administration has made workers’ welfare and skills development a priority, from prompt salary payments, free healthcare insurance, and transport services to consistent training and digital upskilling through the SkillUp Imo programme,” she said.

She revealed that over 40,000 Imo youths have already benefited from the SkillUp Imo initiative, and that the state government is constructing a Digital Village to position Imo as Nigeria’s digital hub.

The Deputy Governor further assured the CIPM team of the government’s readiness to partner with the institute in strengthening the competence of civil servants and professionalising the human resource cadre across the public sector.

In her remarks, CIPM’s National Treasurer, Ogochukwu Egbuonu, representing the President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Ahmed Gobir, commended the Imo state government for its visionary leadership, particularly in promoting digital skills and youth empowerment through the SkillUp Imo programme, which has graduated 10,000 young people.

“CIPM stands ready to work hand in hand with the Government of Imo State to reimagine the new world of work, professionalise the workforce, and deliver an efficient, modern public service worthy of the State’s motto,” she said.
